रेत पर बने ये आशियाने भला कहाँ टिकते हैं।
ग़र बने भी तो ज़मीन पर बिखरे हुए दिखते हैं।
ना कोई मोल ना ही वज़ूद इनका होता है जो।
चिपक कर जोंक जैसे ख़्वाहिशों में लिपटे हैं।
वो दौर नहीं जब हो फुर्सत पास किसी के भी।
सुन सकें दर्द औरों के हसरतों में ही सिमटे हैं।
चंद सिक्कों की खनक ने डुबो दी ज़मीर यहाँ।
नफ़रत की गलियों में सर-ए-बाज़ार बिकते हैं।
दिल के झरोखों पे बैठ कोई गुदगुदाता नहीं है।
तन्हा हो लोग वो जो बंद कमरों में सिसकते हैं।

रेत पर बने आशियाने (Houses built on sand)
भौतिकता की दौड़ में हर कोई भाग रहा है, कोई किसी मक़सद के लिए तो कोई किसी और चाहत के लिए। सभी का एकमात्र लक्ष्य यही है कि किसी तरह से इतना कुछ इक्कठा कर लिए जाए, जिससे जीवन बहुत ऐश ओ आराम से कट जाए। आध्यात्म में इसे ही नश्वर चीजों से प्रेम होना कहा गया है। आध्यात्मिकता का उसूल यही है कि हम निः स्वार्थ भाव से संसार के सभी दायित्वों का निर्वाह करें, कितनी ही दौलत चाहे हम सभी इक्कठी कर लें, कोई भी मृत्यु के बाद इन्हें अपने साथ नहीं ले कर जा सका है। जो भी चीजें हमें नज़र आ रही हैं वो सब कुछ हमें इसी धरती पर छोड़ कर परलोक की यात्रा पर जाना है।
इसलिए ग़ज़ल के पहली पंक्ति में मैने यही बताने का प्रयास किया है:
रेत पर बने आशियाने भला कहां टिकते हैं
ग़र बने भी तो ज़मीन पर बिखरे दिखते हैं
रेत अर्थात बालू पर घर बनाने से क्या लाभ, थोड़ी देर देखने में काफ़ी अच्छा प्रतीत होता है, बच्चों को भी बाल्यकाल में हम सभी ने देखा ही होगा या यूं कहें हम सभी ने अपने बाल्यकाल में अवश्य ही बालू पर बालू से घर बनाए होंगे और इतनी मेहनत से बनाने के बाद हम स्वयं ही उसे गिरा कर खुश भी होते थे, किंतु जैसे जैसे हम बचपन को छोड़कर युवावस्था की ओर कदम बढ़ाते हैं तो भूल ही जाते हैं, हम सभी यहां पर एक कठपुतली की तरह से हैं और हमें नचाने वाला परमात्मा यह देख कर हँस रहा होता है, आनंद ले रहा होता है, बेटा तुम्हें जितना इक्कठा करना है कर ले, जो करना है कर ले, अन्त में तुझे आना ही है मेरे पास।
क्योंकि इन्हें ही हासिल करने के लिए हम अपना सुख चैन घर परिवार सब कुछ त्याग कर हासिल करते हैं, कुछ समय बाद हमारे पास होता तो सब कुछ है लेकिन व्यतिगत रूप से हमें कोई खुशी नहीं मिलती और ना ही हम आनंद से रह पाते हैं। कारण सिर्फ़ एक है। क्योंकि ये सारा संसार ही रेत पर बने हुए घर जैसा है, यहां पर कुछ भी स्थाई नहीं है, सब कुछ ख़त्म होने वाला है। हाँ अगर कुछ स्थाई है शाश्वत है तो वो है परमपिता परमात्मा, जो कल भी था, आज भी है और हम शरीर करके इस दुनिया में नहीं होंगे तब भी ये परमात्मा रहेगा।
जोंक जैसे ख़्वाहिशों में लिपटे हैं
हम अपनी ख़्वाहिशों को मरते दम तक ढोते हैं, जोंक जैसे चिपके ही रहते हैं, उन्हें कभी त्याग ही नहीं पाते हैं, यही कारण है कि हम जीवन का मूल लक्ष्य है उससे भटक जाते हैं।

How can these homes built on sand last
Even if they are built, they are seen scattered on the ground
They have no value nor existence
They are stuck like leeches and wrapped in desires
Those are not the times when anyone has free time
They can listen to the pain, they are confined to the desires of others
The clinking of a few coins has drowned the conscience here
In the streets of hatred, heads of markets are sold
No one tickles the windows of the heart
Those people are lonely who sob in closed rooms
रेत पर बने आशियाने (Ret Par Bane Aashiyane)
Everyone is running in the race of materialism, some for some purpose and some for some other desire. The only aim of everyone is to somehow collect so much that life can be spent in comfort and luxury. In spirituality, this is called loving perishable things. The principle of spirituality is that we should fulfill all the responsibilities of the world selflessly, no matter how much wealth we all collect, no one has been able to take it with him after death. Whatever things we are seeing, we have to leave them all on this earth and go on a journey to the afterlife.
Therefore, this is what I have tried to say in the first line of the ghazal:
How can homes built on sand last?
Even if they are built, they are seen scattered on the ground.
What is the use of building a house on sand? It looks good for a short while. We all must have seen children in our childhood or we must say that we all must have built houses on sand in our childhood and after building it with so much hard work, we ourselves used to be happy by demolishing it. But as we leave childhood and move towards youth, we forget. We all are like puppets here and the God who makes us dance is laughing and enjoying seeing this. Son, collect as much as you want, do whatever you want, in the end you have to come to me.
Because to achieve these we sacrifice our happiness, peace, home and family, everything. After some time we have everything but personally we do not get any happiness and neither are we able to live happily. There is only one reason. Because this whole world is like a house built on sand, nothing is permanent here, everything is going to end. Yes, if there is something permanent and eternal then it is the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, who was there yesterday and is there today and even after we are not in this world in physical form, this God will remain there.
Like leeches wrapped in desires
We carry our desires with us till our last breath; they stick to us like leeches and are never able to let go of them. This is the reason why we stray away from the basic goal of life.
