अनोखा घुड़सवार
कोई भी काम कभी बड़ा या छोटा नहीं होता, काम, काम होता है, उसे करने वाला व्यक्ति कोई भी हो, उसे सही तरह से पूरा करने के बाद ही उस काम की समाप्ति समझी जाती है, ऐसा करने वाला कोई भी आदमी स्वयं को छोटा या बड़ा आंकने की गलती ना करे, फिर भी यदि कोई ऐसा करता है तो ये उस व्यक्ति की सबसे बड़ी भूल है। विपत्ति में घिरे मनुष्य या किसी भी जीव की मदद करने वाला आदमी ईश्वर की नज़रों में सबसे बड़ा हो जाता है। मैं आज आपको ऐसी ही एक कहानी सुनाने जा रहा हूँ, जिसे सुनने के बाद आपको लगेगा कि हाँ! ऐसा तो हम भी कर सकते थे, किन्तु हमने किया क्यों नहीं?
एक व्यक्ति एक बार अपने घोड़े पर सवार होकर शहर के भ्रमण पर निकला था। उसे यह भी देखना था कि शहर के सभी लोग स्वस्थ और सुखी तो हैं न? अपनी ओजस्वी छवि और अच्छी सेहत से धनी प्रतीत होने वाले इस व्यक्ति ने साफ-सुथरे कपड़े पहने हुए सिर पर हैट लगाये हुए, शहर की हर गलियों और सड़कों को धयान से देखता हुआ घूम रहा था। घूमते-घूमते वह नगर के बाहरी हिस्से में पहुँच गया।
उस घुड़सवार ने देखा सड़क के किनारे एक लम्बी-चौड़ी जगह पर बहुत बड़ा भवन बन रहा था। व्यक्ति ने भवन की ओर देखा। जहाँ काफी मजदूर और कारीगर काम में लगे हुए थे। कारीगर दीवारें चिनने में जुटे थे तो मजदूर वहाँ तक सामग्री पहुँचाने में जुटे थे। सब काम बिल्कुल ठीक ढंग से चल रहा था। घुड़सवार के चेहरे पर प्रसन्नता की झलक साफ़ देखी जा सकती थी। वो यह देख कर बेहद खुश था कि सभी लोग अच्छा काम कर रहे हैं, जल्द ही यहाँ एक सुन्दर भवन तैयार खड़ा हो जाएगा।
व्यक्ति यह सब देखता हुआ आगे बढ़ने ही वाला था कि अचानक उसकी नजर मजदूरों के एक समूह पर पड़ी। जो शायद काफी समय से एक विशाल और एक बड़े पत्थर को वहाँ से उठाकर आगे दीवार के समीप ले जाना चाह रहे थे। पत्थर बहुत भारी होने के कारण ऐसा कर पाना असंभव लग रहा था , क्यूंकि उसी पत्थर को भवन के सामने बन रही दीवार में लगाया जाना था।
हालांकि वहाँ पर मजदूर तो कई थे, परन्तु पत्थर उनकी सामूहिक शक्ति के सामर्थ्य से कहीं अधिक भारी और वजनदार था। कई बार कोशिश करने के बाद भी वो पत्थर अपनी जगह से टस से मस तक नहीं हुआ, वे उसे उठाने के लिए अपनी पूरी ताकत लगा रहे थे। पत्थर यदि अपने स्थान से थोड़ा-सा हिलता भी था तो भारी और अत्यधिक वजन होने के कारण अपनी जगह पर वापस आ जाता था।
सभी मजदूर पसीने से तर ब तर हो चुके थे। वे सभी उस पत्थर को वहाँ से हटाकर अपने गंतव्य तक ले जाने की सभी भरसक प्रयास और अपनी सारी युक्तियों को उपयोग में ला चुके थे। सभी युक्तियां बेकार साबित हुई जा रही थीं। घुड़सवार ने देखा एक अन्य व्यक्ति जो साफ़ सुथरी पोशाक में मजदूरों से थोड़ा हटकर एक और खड़ा था। उसकी वेशभूषा और व्यवहार से लग रहा था कि या तो वह कोई ठेकेदार है या मजदूरों पर नज़र रखने वाला कोई सुपरवाइजर। बाद में पता चला कि वह एक सुपरवाइजर ही है।
पर ये क्या? उसने देखा कि सुपरवाइजर बस अपनी जगह पर खड़े-खड़े मजदूरों का हौंसला तो बढ़ा रहा था लेकिन जब मज़दूर असफल हो रहे थे तो बार बार उन्हें भला बुरा भी कह रहा था, लगातार उन तमाम मज़दूरों को अपने काम में विफल होते देख उन्हें कामचोर तक कह डाला। घोड़े की पीठ पर बैठे हुए व्यक्ति को मज़दूरों की इस स्थिति को देख कर काफी पीड़ा भी हुई और उनके लिए हृदय में मजदूरों के प्रति सहानुभूति भी उमड़ आई। उसका अनुमान था कि यदि एक और व्यक्ति मजदूरों के साथ हाथ लगा दे तो वह भारी पत्थर आसानी से दीवार पर रखा जा सकता है।
उस घुड़सवार ने सुपरवाइजर के समीप अर्थात निकट जा कर विनम्रतापूर्वक कहा- “महाशय, यदि आप, स्वयं इन मजदूरों का साथ दे दें तो इस बड़े पत्थर को बड़ी सरलता से उस दीवार तक पहुँचाया जा सकता है।”
घुड़सवार व्यक्ति द्वारा इस प्रकार काम में दखल दिया जाना सुपरवाइजर को बिल्कुल नागवार लगा अर्थात अच्छा नहीं लगा। सुपरवाइजर ने उखड़े हुए स्वर में घुड़सवार व्यक्ति से कहा- ‘मैं यहाँ पर काम करने के लिए नहीं, काम करवाने लिए हूँ और मेरा काम यह है कि मैं सभी मज़दूरों पर अपनी निगाह बनाकर रखूं , समझे कि नहीं समझे। यह काम मजदूरों का है, इसलिए इन्हें ही करने दें, आप बेवज़ह बीच में परेशान ना हों और ना ही आपको इससे कोई मतलब होना चाहिए ।”
घुड़सवार व्यक्ति ने कहा आप तो देख ही चुके हैं इस भारी पत्थर को सभी लोगों ने कई बार यहाँ से हटाने का प्रयास किया है, फिर भी वो हिला नहीं, यदि आप थोड़ा सहारा दे देंगे तो छोटे नहीं हो जायेंगे। क्या आपको इनकी मेहनत और ईमानदारी पर कोई संदेह है क्या? आपको सन्देह नहीं करना चाहिए। ये पूरी तरह पसीने से भीगे हुए हैं। आप जरा-सा सहारा दे देंगे तो यह काम झट से हो जायेगा। घुड़सवार व्यक्ति ने सुपरवाइजर को समझाने का काफी प्रयास करते हुए फिर से कहा लेकिन सुपरवाइजर के कानों में जूं तक नहीं रेंगी।
सुपरवाइजर ने गुस्से से तिलमिलाते हुआ कहा- “यदि आपको इन मजदूरों से इतनी ही ज्यादा सहानुभूति है, हमदर्दी है तो आप ही क्यों नहीं इन मज़दूरों की सहायता कर देते हैं? घोड़े से उतरकर आइये और इनकी मदद कर दीजिये, देखने में ठीक ठाक लग रहे हो, इनका सहयोग क्यों नहीं करते? तभी तो पता चलेगा कि आपके मन में इनके लिए सच्ची हमदर्दी है।”
इतना सुनते ही घुड़सवार घोड़े से नीचे उतर आया। अपना कोट और हैट उतारकर एक ओर रख दिया, फिर मजदूरों के साथ आकर उनका उत्साह बढ़ाते हुए कहा “शाबाश! पूरा जोर लगाओ, भाइयो! पत्थर अभी अपनी जगह पहुँच जाएगा।”
मजदूरों पर घुड़सवार व्यक्ति की बात का बहुत गहरा प्रभाव पड़ा। घुड़सवार ने भी अपनी पूरी ताकत लगा दी। देखते ही देखते पत्थर दीवार के पास पहुँच गया।
घुड़सवार ने अपने हाथ साफ किये। कोट पहना, हैट सिर पर रखा। फिर घोड़े पर सवार होकर बोला- “सुपरवाइजर महोदय, कोई काम छोटा या बड़ा नहीं होता। काम, काम होता है। अपनी मदद के लिए भी हमें कई बार दूसरों पर ही निर्भर रहना होता है, हाथों और पैरों को भी अलग अलग होने के बावज़ूद एक दूसरे की बिना सहायता के कोई भी काम नहीं हो सकता, याद रखो दूसरों की मदद करने वाला ही सच्चा इन्सान होता है।
यदि कभी आपको किसी काम को निपटाने में एक आदमी की जरूरत पड़े तो आप राष्ट्रपति भवन आ जाना। मैं आपको वहाँ पर ही मिलूंगा, आपको मना नहीं करूँगा आपकी सहायता करने के लिए।
सुपरवाइजर ने अपने सामने घोड़े पर बैठे अमेरिका के सबसे पहले राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन को नहीं पहचाना था। जी हाँ आपने सही सुना और समझा, वो व्यक्ति कोई और नहीं था बल्कि राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ही थे। अपने सामने राष्ट्रपति को देख कर सुपरवाइजर शर्म से पानी-पानी हो गया और अपने द्वारा किया गए दुर्व्यहार के लिए क्षमा मांगने लगा। घुड़सवार घोड़े पर बैठ कर सभी मज़दूरों से विदा ले कर आगे बढ़ गए।
कहानी की सत्यता चाहे जो भी रही हो, लेकिन इस कहानी से हमें यह शिक्षा मिलती है कभी भी अपने अभिमान में इतना चूर ना हो जाएं कि हमें सामने वाले की तकलीफ़ ना नज़र आये। ईश्वर ने हर व्यक्ति को अलग अलग सामर्थ्य दिया है किसी को पैसा और ताकत दोनों दिया है, किसी के पास सिर्फ ताकत तो है किन्तु पैसा नहीं है। ऐसे में किसी का मज़ाक उड़ाना, उसे नीचा दिखाना ये अन्याय है, ग़लत है। ईश्वर से डरें, ईश्वर आपके हर कर्म को देख रहा है, कोई भी कर्म ईश्वर की निगाह से दूर नहीं है। कोई भी काम ऐसा ना करें जिससे मानवता का नाश हो समाज पर बुरा असर पड़े, हमेशा अच्छे काम करें, स्वयं को भी ख़ुशी मिलेगी और समाज भी आगे बढ़ेगा।

No work is ever big or small, work is work, no matter who is doing it, the work is considered over only after it is completed properly. No person doing this should make the mistake of considering himself small or big, still if someone does this then it is the biggest mistake of that person. The person who helps a person or any living being in trouble becomes the greatest in the eyes of God. Today I am going to tell you one such story, after listening to which you will feel that yes! We could have done this too, but why didn’t we?
Once a person went out on a tour of the city riding his horse. He also had to see whether all the people of the city were healthy and happy or not? This person, who seemed rich with his vigorous image and good health, was roaming around wearing clean clothes and a hat on his head, looking carefully at every street and road of the city. While roaming around, he reached the outskirts of the city.
The horseman saw that a very big building was being constructed on a large area on the side of the road. The person looked towards the building. There were many workers and artisans busy working. The artisans were busy building the walls and the workers were busy bringing the material there. All the work was going on perfectly. A glimpse of happiness could be clearly seen on the horseman’s face. He was very happy to see that everyone was doing a good job, soon a beautiful building would be built here.
The person was about to move forward while watching all this, when suddenly his eyes fell on a group of workers. Who probably had been trying to lift a huge and big stone from there for a long time and take it to the wall ahead. Due to the stone being very heavy, it seemed impossible to do so, because the same stone had to be used in the wall being built in front of the building.
Although there were many workers there, but the stone was much heavier and more weighty than the strength of their collective strength. Even after trying several times, the stone did not move from its place. They were using all their strength to lift it. If the stone moved a little from its place, it would come back to its place due to its heavy weight. All the workers were drenched in sweat. They had tried their best and used all their tricks to remove the stone from there and take it to its destination. All the tricks were proving useless. The horseman saw another person standing a little away from the workers in clean clothes. His attire and behaviour indicated that he was either a contractor or a supervisor who keeps an eye on the workers. Later it was found out that he was a supervisor.
But what is this? He saw that the supervisor was just standing at his place and encouraging the workers, but when the workers were failing, he was also abusing them repeatedly. Seeing all those workers failing in their work, he even called them lazy. The person sitting on the horseback felt very sad to see this condition of the workers and he also felt sympathy for them in his heart. He guessed that if one more person helps the workers, then that heavy stone can be easily placed on the wall.
The horse rider went near the supervisor and said politely – “Sir, if you yourself help these workers, then this big stone can be easily taken to that wall.”
The supervisor did not like the horse rider interfering in the work in this manner. The supervisor said to the horse rider in an irritated tone- ‘I am not here to work but to get the work done and my job is to keep an eye on all the workers, whether they understand it or not. This is the work of the labourers, so let them do it, you should not get unnecessarily disturbed in between and neither should you have any concern with it.”
The horse rider said, “You have already seen that this heavy stone has been tried to be removed by everyone many times, yet it did not move, if you give it a little support, it will not become smaller. Do you have any doubt about their hard work and honesty? You should not doubt. They are completely drenched in sweat. If you give them a little support, this work will be done quickly.” The horse rider said again, trying hard to convince the supervisor, but the supervisor did not listen to him.
The supervisor, fuming with anger, said, “If you have so much sympathy for these labourers, then why don’t you help them? Get down from the horse and help them, you look fine, why don’t you help them? Only then will we know that you have true sympathy for them.”
On hearing this, the horseman got down from the horse. He took off his coat and hat and kept them aside. Then he came with the workers and encouraged them saying, “Well done! Use your full strength, brothers! The stone will reach its place soon.”
The words of the horseman had a deep impact on the workers. The horseman also used his full strength. In no time, the stone reached the wall.
The horseman cleaned his hands. He wore his coat and put his hat on his head. Then he mounted the horse and said, “Supervisor Sir, no work is big or small. Work is work. Many times, we have to depend on others for our help too. Even hands and feet are one despite being different.
If you ever need a man to get some work done, then come to Rashtrapati Bhavan. I will meet you there, I will not refuse to help you.
The supervisor did not recognize the first President of America, George Washington, sitting on a horse in front of him. Yes, you heard and understood correctly, that person was none other than President George Washington. Seeing the President in front of him, the supervisor was ashamed and started apologizing for his misbehaviour. The horseman sat on the horse and moved forward after bidding farewell to all the workers.
Whatever may be the truth of the story, but this story teaches us that we should never be so arrogant that we cannot see the pain of the other person. God has given different abilities to every person, some have both money and power, some have only power but no money. In such a situation, making fun of someone, insulting him is injustice, wrong. Fear God, God is watching your every action, no action is beyond the eyes of God. Do not do any work which destroys humanity or has a bad impact on the society, always do good work, you will be happy, and the society will also progress.
