“एक छोटा सा धन्यवाद – बड़ा असर”
भारत देश संभावनों का देश नहीं बल्कि ये वो धरती है जिसके गर्भ से श्री राम, श्री कृष्ण और गुरुनानक देव जैसे ही असंख्य दिव्य विभूतियों और मातृवीरों ने जन्म लिया है।इसलिए हमारे भारत देश की मिटटी का ही असर है जब यहाँ छोटे छोटे बच्चे भी संस्कारों से युक्त होते हैं, कई बार वो खेल खेल में ऐसी सीख दे कर चले जाते हैं वो बड़ों बड़ों को भी सोचने पर विवश कर देती है।
आज जो कहानी मैं आपको बताने जा रहा हूँ, वो एक छोटे से गाँव की है। गाँव के छोटे से कस्बे में एक सरकारी स्कूल था, जहाँ बच्चों की संख्या बेशक बहुत ही कम थी, लेकिन उन बच्चों के सपने बहुत बड़े थे। इसी स्कूल में पाँचवीं कक्षा में एक लड़का पढ़ता था — आरव। आरव पढ़ाई में अच्छा था, पर बहुत ही शांत स्वभाव वाला था। उसे लोगों से बात करने में हिचकिचाहट होती थी। वो ना तो ज्यादा बोलता था, ना ही अपनी भावनाएं व्यक्त करता था।
स्कूल में एक व्यक्ति और था, जिसे बच्चे ज्यादा महत्व नहीं देते थे — वो थे रामू काका। रामू काका स्कूल के सफाईकर्मी थे। हर सुबह स्कूल आने से पहले ही वे पूरी साफ-सफाई कर देते, बेंचें पोंछते, पानी की बोतलें भरते और बच्चों के खेलने वाले मैदान को भी साफ सुथरा रखते।
उनका काम बहुत महत्वपूर्ण था, लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से कोई भी उन्हें उस नजर से नहीं देखता था। न कोई “नमस्ते” करता, न कोई “धन्यवाद” कहता। बस वो चुपचाप अपनी ड्यूटी निभाते और शाम को घर चले जाते।
एक छोटी सी घटना
एक दिन बारिश बहुत तेज़ हो रही थी। स्कूल की पूरी ज़मीन कीचड़ से भर गई थी। रामू काका ने बिना छाता लिए, भीगते हुए, स्कूल के गेट से लेकर क्लासरूम तक रास्ता साफ किया, ताकि बच्चों को कोई परेशानी ना हो। वो खुद पूरी तरह भीग चुके थे, लेकिन उनके चेहरे पर कोई शिकायत की भावना नहीं थी।
आरव खिड़की से ये सब देख रहा था। उसके मन में अचानक एक भाव जगा — कृतज्ञता का। उस दिन पहली बार उसने रामू काका को गौर से देखा। इतने सालों से वो इस स्कूल का हिस्सा हैं, लेकिन आज तक किसी ने भी उन्हें न तो इज़्ज़त दी और न ही ठीक से बात की।
एक छोटा सा धन्यवाद
लंच ब्रेक में, आरव रामू काका के पास गया। धीरे से उनके पास जाकर बोला,
“रामू काका, आज आपने जो किया उसके लिए… धन्यवाद!”
रामू काका ने पहले तो चौंक कर उसकी ओर देखा। जैसे उन्हें यकीन नहीं हुआ कि किसी ने उन्हें धन्यवाद कहा है। फिर उनके चेहरे पर एक चमक आ गई। आंखों में थोड़ी नमी थी, लेकिन होठों पर एक सच्ची मुस्कान थी।
“बेटा, पहली बार किसी ने मुझसे ऐसा कहा… धन्यवाद तुझे,” रामू काका ने कांपती आवाज़ में कहा।
बदलाव की शुरुआत
इस छोटे से धन्यवाद ने बहुत बड़ा असर किया। अगली सुबह रामू काका पहले से ज्यादा जोश में थे। वो whistles बजाते हुए सफाई कर रहे थे। स्कूल की बेंचें चमक रही थीं, बगीचे में फूलों की क्यारी नई मिट्टी से सजी थी।
आरव ने उस दिन अपने दोस्तों को रामू काका की मेहनत के बारे में बताया। धीरे-धीरे बाकी बच्चे भी रामू काका को “नमस्ते” कहने लगे, कुछ “थैंक यू” भी बोलते। अब हर शुक्रवार को क्लास मॉनिटर रामू काका को एक छोटा सा “थैंक यू कार्ड” देता।
एक बोया बीज – फल सबने पाया
कुछ हफ्तों में स्कूल का माहौल ही बदल गया। अब बच्चे न सिर्फ रामू काका का आदर करने लगे थे, बल्कि स्कूल के अन्य स्टाफ को भी सम्मान देने लगे। टीचर्स को भी धन्यवाद कहा जाने लगा। सफाई, अनुशासन और आपसी सहयोग में बदलाव स्पष्ट दिखने लगा।
स्कूल के प्रिंसिपल सर ने एक दिन स्टाफ मीटिंग में कहा,
“हम बड़े-बड़े बदलाव की योजना बनाते हैं, लेकिन असली परिवर्तन एक छोटे से ‘धन्यवाद’ से भी आ सकता है।”
समाप्ति से पहले एक मोड़
कुछ महीने बाद, शिक्षा विभाग की टीम निरीक्षण के लिए स्कूल आई। उन्होंने स्कूल की सफाई, बच्चों की विनम्रता और आपसी सहयोग देख कर बहुत तारीफ की। रिपोर्ट में स्कूल को ‘आदर्श विद्यालय’ घोषित कर दिया गया।
रामू काका को भी विशेष रूप से सम्मानित किया गया। उन्हें स्टेज पर बुलाया गया और प्रिंसिपल ने उन्हें “साइलेंट हीरो” की उपाधि दी। पूरे स्कूल ने खड़े होकर तालियाँ बजाईं।
रामू काका की आँखों में आँसू थे, पर इस बार वे आँसू सम्मान और खुशी के थे।
कहानी का सार
एक छोटे से बच्चे का एक छोटा सा “धन्यवाद” एक ऐसे बदलाव की शुरुआत बन गया जिसने पूरे स्कूल का वातावरण बदल दिया। कभी-कभी हमारे शब्द किसी के दिन, जीवन और सोच तक बदल सकते हैं।
हम अक्सर सोचते हैं कि बड़ा असर डालने के लिए बड़ी बातें करनी होती हैं, लेकिन सच्चाई ये है —
“एक छोटा सा धन्यवाद, किसी के दिल में बहुत बड़ी जगह बना सकता है।”
सीख / नैतिक शिक्षा:
- किसी भी काम को छोटा मत समझो, और किसी भी व्यक्ति को अनदेखा मत करो।
- आभार व्यक्त करना एक गुण है, जो हर रिश्ते को मजबूत बनाता है।
- छोटे बच्चे भी समाज में बड़े बदलाव ला सकते हैं — एक अच्छी सोच और सकारात्मकता से।
- कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करने से सकारात्मकता का माहौल बनता है।
- जब हम किसी को धन्यवाद देते हैं, तो हम उन्हें यह भी बताते हैं कि हम उनके काम की सराहना करते हैं, जिससे उनका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ता है।
इसलिए, अगली बार जब कोई आपके लिए कुछ करे, तो एक छोटा सा “धन्यवाद” / “आभार प्रकट करना” कहना न भूलें। यह एक छोटा सा इशारा है, लेकिन इसका एक बड़ा प्रभाव हो सकता है।

“A small thank you – a big impact”
India is not a country of possibilities but it is the land from whose womb countless divine personalities and mother heroes like Shri Ram, Shri Krishna and Guru Nanak Dev were born. Therefore, it is the effect of the soil of our country India that even small children here are imbued with values, many times they leave behind such teachings while playing that even the elders are forced to think.
The story I am going to tell you today is of a small village. There was a government school in a small town of the village, where the number of children was very less, but the dreams of those children were very big. A boy studied in the fifth class in this school – Aarav. Aarav was good in studies, but was of a very quiet nature. He was hesitant to talk to people. He neither spoke much, nor expressed his feelings.
There was another person in the school, whom the children did not give much importance – he was Ramu Kaka. Ramu Kaka was the school’s sweeper. Every morning before coming to school, he would clean the whole place, wipe the benches, fill water bottles and keep the children’s playground clean.
His work was very important, but unfortunately no one looked at him that way. No one would say “Namaste” or “Thank you”. He would just quietly do his duty and go home in the evening.
A small incident
One day it was raining very heavily. The entire school ground was filled with mud. Ramu Kaka, without an umbrella, getting drenched, cleaned the path from the school gate to the classroom so that the children did not face any problem. He himself was completely drenched, but there was no feeling of complaint on his face.
Aarav was watching all this from the window. Suddenly a feeling arose in his mind – of gratitude. That day for the first time he looked at Ramu Kaka carefully. He has been a part of this school for so many years, but till date no one has respected him or spoken to him properly.
A small thank you
During the lunch break, Aarav went to Ramu Kaka. He slowly went to him and said,
Ramu Kaka, for what you did today… thank you!
Ramu Kaka looked at him in shock at first. As if he could not believe that someone has thanked him. Then a glow came on his face. There was a little moisture in the eyes, but there was a genuine smile on the lips.
“Son, for the first time someone said this to me… thank you,” Ramu Kaka said in a trembling voice.
The beginning of change
This small thank you had a big impact. The next morning Ramu Kaka was more enthusiastic than before. He was cleaning while blowing whistles. The benches of the school were shining, the flower beds in the garden were decorated with new soil.
Aarav told his friends about Ramu Kaka’s hard work that day. Gradually, other children also started saying “Namaste” to Ramu Kaka, some even said “Thank you”. Now every Friday, the class monitor would give Ramu Kaka a small “Thank you card”.
A seed was sown – everyone reaped the fruits
In a few weeks, the atmosphere of the school changed. Now the children not only started respecting Ramu Kaka, but also started respecting other staff of the school. Teachers also started being thanked. Changes in cleanliness, discipline and mutual cooperation became clearly visible.
The school’s principal sir said in a staff meeting one day,
“We plan big changes, but real change can come from a small ‘thank you’.”
A twist before the end
After a few months, the education department team came to the school for inspection. They praised the cleanliness of the school, the politeness of the children and mutual cooperation. In the report, the school was declared an ‘ideal school’.
Ramu Kaka was also specially honored. He was called on stage and the principal gave him the title of “Silent Hero”. The whole school stood up and applauded.
Ramu Kaka had tears in his eyes, but this time they were tears of respect and joy.
Story Summary
A small “thank you” from a small child became the beginning of a change that changed the atmosphere of the whole school. Sometimes our words can change someone’s day, life and even thinking.
We often think that to make a big impact, one has to say big things, but the truth is –
“A small thank you can make a big place in someone’s heart.”
Lesson / Moral:
Do not underestimate any work, and do not ignore any person.
Expressing gratitude is a virtue that strengthens every relationship.
Even small children can bring big changes in the society – with a good thought and positivity.
Expressing gratitude creates an atmosphere of positivity.
When we thank someone, we also let them know that we appreciate their work, which boosts their confidence.
So, the next time someone does something for you, don’t forget to say a small “thank you”/”express gratitude”. It’s a small gesture, but it can have a big impact.
