अजीब इत्तेफ़ाक़ है
जिस शख़्स का ख़्याल
दिल के आईने में दिखाई देता है
शिकायतों की लड़ियां
गुफ़्तगू सन्नाटे में सुनाई देता है
दहलीज़ गवाही दे रहा
पाज़ेब की थिरकती मुस्कान पर
गुज़ार दी हैं सदियाँ लम्हों की
अरमां हैं आज भी आसमान पर
अजीब इत्तेफ़ाक़ है।।
अंधेरे को चीरता हुआ चाँद
चिराग़ हाथों में लेकर निकल पड़ा
मशरूफ़ था ज़िन्दगी की जंग में
चंद क़ाबलियत से भीड़ में चल पड़ा
अनदेखा करता रहा खुशियों में
बरसने वाली बारिश की ख़नक को
कांच संभालता रहा बड़े अदब से
भुलाकर अनमोल हीरे की चमक को
अजीब इत्तेफ़ाक़ है।।
शाख़ पर बैठे उन परिंदों की तड़प
करवट लेते शाम का आगाज़
धुंधली उम्मीदों के साए में छिपकर
सुनहली सुबह फिर उड़ने का अंदाज़
ज़मी पर लहराते हुए सितारों को
बड़े शौक़ से समाते हुए देखा है
तुम रूह में बसे हो इस कदर मेरे
जुगनू जैसे ख़्वाबों में आते हुए देखा है
अजीब इत्तेफ़ाक़ है।।

उपरोक्त कविता का सारांश ये है कि, हम सभी लोग पूरी ज़िन्दगी को गिले शिकवों में ज़्यादा और खुशियों में कमी करके गुजार देते हैं, ख़ुश हो कर जीवन जीने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। हम जिसके ऊपर भी भरोसा करते हैं विश्वास करते हैं उनको साथ लेकर हर एक क्षेत्र में अपने कार्य को उसके उच्तम शिखर तक पहुंचाने का अनवरत प्रयास करना चाहिए।

अक्सर कई बार आपने ऐसा अवश्य देखा होगा जब कोई व्यक्ति किसी की मुँह पर तो जी भर कर तारीफ़ करता है पर उसकी अनुपस्थिति में उसके पीठ पीछे अनगिनत बुराईयां करता है, और ये सभी शिकायतें इंसान को एकांत में भी सुकून से रहने नहीं देती हैं। ये गवाही इस बात की भी है क्यूंकि जिस स्थान पर हमने अपनी पूरी ज़िन्दगी लगा दी, वहां पर आज भी उमड़ रहे दुःख के बादलों को देख कर भयाक्रांत हो जाते हैं, हमारे हृदय के किसी कोने में आज भी अपने उन लोगों की पीड़ा से उत्पन्न हुए दर्द का अहसास है।
ये करवट बदलते हुए वक़्त की ही आवाज़ है जब आज हम उस नायब हीरे को पाने के लिए रेस में लगे हुए हैं, परन्तु जब वो कोयले का मध्य अपने आपको तराशने के लिए बेइंतेहां संघर्ष कर रहा था, वो भी एक वक़्त था, जिन पर चढ़ कर ना जाने कितनों ने अपने सफ़र का आगाज़ किया होगा और कितनों ने अंत। किन्तु वो तो हीरा है उसे तो एक ना एक दिन चमकना ही था।

The person whose thoughts
I can see in the mirror of my heart
The string of complaints
The conversation is heard in the silence
The threshold is giving testimony
On the dancing smile of the anklet
Centuries of moments have been spent
The desires are still in the sky
The moon, piercing the darkness,
Started out with a lamp in hand
Busy in the battle of life
Started walking in the crowd with a little ability
Kept ignoring the sound of the pouring rain in happiness
Kept handling the glass with great respect
Forgetting the shine of the priceless diamond
The yearning of those birds sitting on the branch
The beginning of the evening turning
Hiding in the shadow of hazy hopes
The golden morning’s way of flying again
I have seen the stars fluttering on the ground
I have seen them settling down with great fondness
You are settled in my soul to such an extent
I have seen you coming in my dreams like a firefly
It is a strange coincidence.

The summary of the above poem is that, we all spend our entire life with more complaints and less happiness, we should try to live a happy life. We should take along with us those whom we trust and believe in and make continuous efforts to take our work to its highest peak in every field.
The person whose thoughts
are visible in the mirror of the heart
strings of complaints
can be heard in the silence
the threshold is giving testimony
on the dancing smile of the anklet
centuries have been spent, the desires of moments
are still in the sky
often you must have seen that a person praises someone to his heart’s content in front of him but in his absence speaks ill of him behind his back, and all these complaints do not allow a person to live peacefully even in solitude. This testimony is also of the fact that the place where we have spent our whole life, we still get frightened seeing the clouds of sorrow rising there, in some corner of our heart we still feel the pain caused by the suffering of those people.
This is the sound of changing times when today we are in a race to get that rare diamond, but when it was struggling to carve itself amidst the coal, that was also a time when many people would have started their journey and many would have ended it by climbing on it. But it is a diamond and it had to shine one day.
